I’ve heard a lot about this movie, but I choose to make up my own mind. And since it’s now available on NowTV to watch, that’s exactly what I’ll be doing. I’ve read that Lee Cronin’s The Mummy has an amazing atmospheric presence and performances, but that the narrative is a little messy and the movie is too long. But you know me, I don’t like to read or watch other people’s reviews before I watch a movie so I’m going to do my best to ignore what I’ve heard and just watch the movie for myself.

Starring Jack Reynor (Midsommer, The Peripheral), Laia Costa (Victoria, Lullaby). May Calamawy (Moon Knight, Ramy), Natalie Grace (1923, Raymar). Shylo Molina (Deadly Illusions, Eternally Yours), and Billie Roy (Candy, The Mosquito Coast).
The young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace. Eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy Review Conclusion
Screw what everyone else said: this movie is brilliant, dark in all the right ways. It even made me jump and “eugh” out loud, and you know how much I love a movie that can do that!
I love the richness of the colours, the subtle movement in the back of frames, and the constant niggling question “why did this happen?”. And even the things that impede them from finding out the truth.
And there are some truly gross moments. This is gonna be a watch, and watch again, movie for me. It ticks all the boxes. Not sure I wanted to see grandma like that, and there’s a lot of swapping of fluids and mouth stuff that’s totally gross, but it all… well… no spoilers, eh?
