What most intrigued me about Universe25 was the idea that an angel does not know his true identity. And what existence was he living before coming to earth, that kept him so far from himself? Across two cities, and two planes of existence, this film plays happily with your expectations. Keeping a tension in the quiet places. Following an angel on a holy mission, even as he is forced by circumstance and experience to search for himself.

Starring Giacomo Gex as Mott (Miss Willoughby), Ana Maria Guran as Perriot (Taximetristi). Andre Flynn as The Master (The Sandman), Alex Bogdan as Darius (Freedom). Tania Khan as Jocasta (Humans), and Dan Sociu as Andrei.
Mott the angel is sent on a holy mission in London and Bucharest. In his search for a mysterious saint, he encounters a world that sends him off course and forces him to face his true identity.

Universe25 Review Conclusion
Fantastically thoughtful and deep: Shot beautifully, with a dark grittiness bordering on Gothic in places, I loved the meld against the modern world. You could get lost in the arguments, the passions, the chaos of real lives behind closed doors and emotions spilling out onto the streets.
Full of philosophical and moral questions, you can’t help but ponder alongside the characters. I wonder at a future so devoid of change amongst humans, that there’s no longer a need to procreate. How few new ideas there must be. With little change. This film ended long before I was ready, and I will be thinking about it for a long time to come.
Take a look at the behind the scenes on Richard Melkononian’s Instagram page, I just love the red room set up.

Writer, reviewer, and occasional chaos-collector -the kind who laughs through the plot twists and finds magic in the strange corners of storytelling. I explore films, stories, and the wonderfully weird… and yes, moths are still my sworn enemies.
