Macbeth in Compton – Uniquely Shakespearean | KT Review

Completely gobsmacked by this one -a feast for the ears and the eyes. A tale of power, ambition, and betrayal takes centre stage in this urban reimagining, it’s roots unmistakably Shakespearean yet refreshingly modern. Macbeth in Compton offers a twist on the text we all endured at school and, somehow learned to love over time.

Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under it.

Macbeth in Compton Review Conclusion

This tale deserves your attention: No sooner begins the tale than drama and intrigue weave their snares about the stage. My Shakespeare may be a little rusty and my hip-hop skills non-existent, yet the fusion here is nothing short of genius. The subtitle translations are a clever touch, though I found I scarcely needed them – perhaps I paid more attention in English class than I ever believed.

The drama and depth of this short had me agog, and I will gladly subject myself to more the moment this becomes the series it so clearly deserves to be. Drag me by the ears into the depths of this tale, and I shall not turn from it. If this opening act holds such treachery and thrill, the chapters ahead promise a feast of darker delights.
