Finally got to see this (it’s on Prime) and it was certainly interesting. Longlegs had me wanting to watch this from the second I saw the first trailer. The feel of the shots drew me in, sites saying it would appeal to those who love Silence of the Lambs, and of course Nicolas Cage in another creepy movie. It made big promises, but did it deliver?
Starring Maika Monroe (It Follows, The Guest), Nicolas Cage (Pig, Renfield), Blair Underwood (Rules of Engagement, Quantico). Alicia Witt (Orange is the New Black, Last Holiday), Michelle Choi-Lee (Joy Ride, Yellowjackets), and Dakota Daulby (Billy the Kid, Shōgun).
Longlegs Review Conclusion
I’ll probably watch it again: This was a strange one, interestingly shot and with an icy finger lingering over the whole thing, the cinematography is striking. Loved how fast it got into things, but the final revelation of what was happening caught me a little off-guard. Despite everything that had happened, and all the little pieces of the story coming together, I was not expecting the reason for it. Whilst Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage were excellent, giving fantastic performances, I can’t help feeling that this movie could have gone deeper into the story following the dark world of this serial killer, and given more. An engaging watch with an eerie atmosphere, and if you’re a suspense or horror fan, you should probably add it to your watch list. I enjoyed it but wanted more (and I was pretty sure Longlegs was going to turn out to be her father for most of the movie).
