Killing Eve – A Cat & Mouse Thriller | KT Review

I heard about Killing Eve via the Twitter-vine and decided it needed a look-see. The whole box set is available on BBC iPlayer which is cool and I watched it over the last three evenings. On BBC America in The States and BBC Three in the UK, the story traverses UK, Russia, and France and has the spies zipping all over to try to catch the assassin. There will be spoilers ahead, so if you haven’t seen it yet you may want to look no further than the trailer below.

Killing Eve Review Conclusion

I probably won’t watch it again – Having never read the books I had no idea what to expect and was pleased by the largely female-led cast. But whilst there were plenty of fun and intense scenes there were a few that felt like adults pretending to be children pretending to be spies. The new clothes for old seemed like a forced imitation of Hannibal Lector helping Will Graham, and spoke to the obsession of the assassin for the women she fancied. The spies knowledge and skill felt played down to make the assassin seem smarter, rather than the assassin outsmarting the security services. But towards the end, as the threads were pulled, the story got a little more interesting. Although there was nothing particularly surprising or unexpected except perhaps the end scenes after Eve finds the assassin’s apartment. It was good but it wasn’t great.
