With the weather the way it is, I’ve already watched Practical Magic this year. I don’t normally get the urge before September but this year feels like it needs watching on repeat. I am as eager for a sequel as the next person. Witches and magic, wrapped in a gorgeous house and an unusual family. Hmmm, I wonder if they’ll use the same house or recreate it like they have with the one in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (if they make a third one, people are really gonna struggle with saying the title).
TikTok Talk
Alright, to the important stuff. Like you, I’ve seen a lot of talk on TikTok about the sequel. I’ve heard that Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock will be reprising their roles.
And the story will be based on the fourth book, The Book of Magic, which is about three generations of Owens working to break their family curse – when they hear the sound of the deathwatch beetle, they know that the person they’re in love with is going to die. So, if you haven’t read it yet, perhaps now is the time. It’s certainly going to be my next read. I’ve loved the other books in the series not just for the stories but for the beautiful way they’re written. They’re books to sink into.

I think we’re probably looking at September/October of next year for a release date -it’s down as currently in development on IMDb, and 6-9 months to film. And honestly, releasing the new movie as we come into autumn when everyone will already be re-watching the first film is just a smart move, or at least I think it is.
