Omg! I’m loving Evil right now. It’s such a good show and easy to watch whilst still being a bit messed up. It’s not a put it on whilst you’re doing something else kinda show. It’s an “I can eat my tea, pause part way through to go to work or sleep, watch something else but come back to it” kinda show. You don’t lose your place or forget what’s happening. And you want to know what’s going to happen next, who’s infested, who has a demon, who’s acting of their own volition?

And Andrea Martin as the ever present nun, cleaning up the messes and a font of knowledge should she choose to share, Sister Andrea.
Werewolves -the 12 most famous
I’ve had werewolves on the brain this past couple of weeks, part of it is an idea for the novel I’m currently working on and part of it is that autumn is fast approaching. And I really want a “Werewolves not Swearwolves” hoody/t-shirt (Redbubble, if you’re wondering).
But if I’m going to add a werewolf character into this current WIP (and, like in Moon, be one Dracula created), I thought I’d best do a little research -with the help of bing. I was most interested in how they were turned.
- According to Greek mythology, Lycaon was a king of Arcadia who served Zeus a dish made from his own son, which angered the god. Zeus punished him by turning him and his offspring into wolves 1.
- Marie de France’s medieval French poem featured Bisclavret, a noble baron who became a wolf every week. His wife betrayed him by taking his clothes, which were necessary for his human form. He was later rescued by the king and restored to his human form 1.
- Confessing under torture in 1589, Peter Stubbe, a German farmer, claimed he was a werewolf. He claimed a magic belt allowed him to change into a wolf and that he had killed and eaten many people and animals. He was executed by breaking on the wheel, beheading, and burning 2.
- Accused of being a werewolf and cannibal in 1573, French Hermit Gilles Garnier, confessed that he had used an ointment to transform into a wolf and that he had killed and eaten several children. He was also executed by burning at the stake 2.
- From the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, Remus Lupin was bitten by a werewolf named Fenrir Greyback when he was a child. He became a werewolf himself and had to take a potion to control his transformations. He was a teacher at Hogwarts and a member of the Order of the Phoenix 13.
- Another werewolf from Harry Potter, Fenrir Greyback is a vicious werewolf who likes to bite and infect children. He is allied with the Death Eaters, the followers of Lord Voldemort, and participates in several battles against the Order of the Phoenix 13.
- From the Underworld series we have Lucian. He is the first of the Lycans, a race of werewolves who can change at will. Born as a slave to the vampires, he led a rebellion against them and became their enemy. He fell in love with a vampire named Sonja, but their relationship ended tragically 4.
- The Wolf Man of 1941 and its remake The Wolfman in 2010 stars Lawrence Talbot. An American who returns to his ancestral home in England and gets bitten by a werewolf. He then struggles with his curse and tries to find a cure or a way to end his life 4.
- And the one I least like to talk about. And the reason I run indoors on dark nights when there’s a full moon, David Kessler from An American Werewolf in London. He’s an American tourist who gets attacked by a werewolf while hiking in the English countryside. He survives, but he becomes a werewolf himself and kills several people in London during his transformations 4.
- One of my favourite werewolf TV shows has been Teen Wolf. Scott McCall is a high school student who gets bitten by a werewolf and gains enhanced abilities, but also faces new dangers and challenges. He becomes the leader of his own pack and protects his friends and town from various supernatural threats 4.
- Vivian Gandillon is the heroine of the novel Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause. A 16-year-old werewolf girl who falls in love with a human boy named Aiden, but their relationship is complicated by her loyalty to her pack and her attraction to another werewolf named Gabriel 1.
- A werewolf even appears in J.R.R. Tolkein’s works. Draugluin was the first and greatest of the werewolves of Middle-earth. Bred from wolves and inhabited by an evil spirit sent by Morgoth, the Dark Lord. He was killed by Huan, the hound of Valinor 1.
Megan
Now on NowTV Movies, I decided to dedicate a portion of my day to watching it (It’s easy to take a break from Evil). Of course, I had some writing to do first, and some research, and the laundry, but once all that was finished I settled down with my chocolate crispy bars, a hot coffee, and my feet up.
And you know a Blumhouse movie is gonna be a good movie, even if it’s not usually your kind of movie.
Bringing M3gan to life is Amie Donald (Sweet Tooth) and as her voice Jenna Davis (Raven’s Home, Maggie). Allison Williams (Get Out, Perfection) is her creator, Gemma. Her new bestie, Cady, is played by Violet McGraw (The Haunting of Hill House, Black Widow). David is played by Ronny Chieng (Crazy Rich Asians, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings). And Brian Jordan Alvarez (Jane the Virgin, Will & Grace) as Cole.
If you haven’t s3en it yet, maybe it’s time you did 😉
