Battery operated, to be safe. I have no idea how much energy this will save you, I ain’t jumping on that bandwagon -read books instead of watching TV, buy this device that you have to charge with electricity to stay warm. I just think it’s a cosy way to spend a dark evening, I mean, you could always use the books as insulation when you’re done I suppose but unless your chimney has been recently cleaned, don’t go burning them (sacrilege!).
But whether you’re reading them or buying books as gifts (the best gifts ever in my opinion -you should see my wish list!), here are my top picks for this Christmas.
Top Book Picks I want to Read
Stephen King is always a good choice, and this one intrigues me. Stone Blind is Medusa’s story as she grows up a human amongst gods, and I do love they stories that keep popping up about Greek gods and monsters. The book eaters got my attention with nothing more than that cover, isn’t it gorgeous? And then I dove deeper, a mother doing what she must to protect her second son born different to those of her kind. If you’ve read any of these three, let me know what you thought.
The Books I’m Probably Going to Re-Read
The Bear and the Nightingale is a beautiful read, quite different and set in the dark of a Russian winter, filled with magic and strange characters. Whilst Cold Blood is for those who enjoy SAS type books, a former soldier goes to aid a band of wounded soldiers as they traverse the arctic. And if that was all that was going on, it might have been a quiet but cold trip for Nick Stone. And then there’s Dracul, a favourite of mine, and a tale that introduces you to the life of Bram Stoker and how he encountered vampires. Wonderfully written, I love Dracul, and I’m already re-reading this one.
