Hello 2025! Wishing you all the best for this year. I hope it brings you everything you desire -or at least gets you a little closer to it. I’ve made my 2025 bingo card (it’s a trend on TikTok if you haven’t seen it yet, instead of a vision board) and it has sparked a few ideas. One being quite mad.
The Mad Idea
On my 2025 bingo card, I included write a non-fiction, a story, a script, and a TV pilot. I’ve completed two of these things before, and the others, while attempted, remain somewhat of an enigma because I haven’t fully committed to them. But…
My brain decided it would be a good idea to have them all connected, a sort of same universe, connecting characters, a central character that holds it all together, and maybe different stories with the same goal? Which seems completely mad, given that one is a non-fiction, and there’s probably no way at all of having them all go out into the world at the same time -which would be optimal.
Trouble is, I don’t quite have the story idea yet, just the central character, an idea about characters passing each other or interacting somehow at different points in the story. It’s vague. It needs some thinking about. And probably copious amounts of notes. However, I will write it without excessive concern for formatting. Because story was around before anyone decided it needed rules to structure it. Good thing, bad thing, getting over the bad thing, new equilibrium. I’ve written plenty of novels and scripts for it to be somewhat natural in terms of “the rules”, but I will pay more attention to structuring the TV pilot, as I don’t quite have that skill down yet and I thoroughly believe you should learn the rules before you start ignoring them. So, if you have any wonderful resources for writing TV pilots, let me know.
The Fall Guy
The Fall Guy has just landed on NowTV Cinema, and I couldn’t resist watching it as soon as I saw it was on there. I’ve wanted to see it since they first started advertising it for the American cinema release. But, if I went to the m movies to see every film I wanted to see, I’d be skint 100% of the time. I don’t want to go to the movies more often in 2025, but I’m gonna be picky about what I go see. But The Fall Guy, loved watching this curled up on the sofa with some left over Christmas stuff (how do I have so many cakes and biscuits this year, hardly any cheese or savory stuff?).
Starring Ryan Gosling (Drive, Barbie) as stuntman Colt Seavers, Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow, The Devil Wears Prada) as Director Jody Moreno, Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nocturnal Animals, Nosferatu) as the ever so famous actor Tom Ryder, Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso, Hocus Pocus 2) as producer Gail Meyer, Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies, Lights Out) as Iggy Star, and Winston Duke (Black Panther, US) as Dan Tucker.
The Evil Genius Journal
The Evil Genius Journal is an idea I had a few years ago as I entered my evil genius phase. But it got benched and I’ve just come back to it. Updated it. And decided to publish it. It has a weekly planning section, undated, so it doesn’t matter when you buy it, you can just start for the first week and use it for an entire year. There are note pages and brainstorming pages, quotes in places throughout. And most importantly, you can write your manifesto, your code, identify your arch nemesis, write your origin story, and use all that information to write your about page if your evil genius plan includes building a website. I’m just waiting for the proof copy to land on my doorstep, so I can make sure it’s exactly how I want it to be before I make it available to buy. But just wanted to let you know it’s in the works, and will soon be available.
