Netflix is gearing up to produce the new western The Harder They Fall starring Idris Elba which is about a man seeking revenge on the killer of his parents. And whilst there are previous movies and shows with the same or similar titles, it’s not a remake. And the original westerns that have come out of Netflix over the past few years, like Godless, have been rather good so I’m hoping for something extraordinary.
The Cast So Far
Starring Idris Elba, who we’ve recently seen donning a six-shooter and boots in The Dark Tower has also brought us amazing characters in Turn Up Charlie, Luther, and Thor. And alongside him Jonathan Majors who you might know from such films as Hostiles, White Boy Rick, and Captive State. With extras required already for the beginning of shooting in March in New Mexico, there will undoubtedly be more cast news soon as this film gets underway and if you happen to be in New Mexico in March, keep an eye out.
Written by Jeymes Samuel (also directing) who wrote and directed They Die By Dawn and Jay-Z: The Legacy, and Boaz Yakin writer of Max, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and Safe.
The Harder They Fall
The movie is going to be an all-black western feature and Nat love, played by Majors, with the help of his old gang will be chasing down the man who killed his parents two decades ago, Elba, who is being released from prison. Despite sounding a lot like a film that could be shot in the current day, this is a period western.
