Red One – They Kidnapped Santa! | KT Review

There were some familiar faces in Red One that I just wasn’t expecting, and some people are just meant to play witches. Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evens is a good pairing, but I feel like Chris Evens is showing up in some odd films after playing Captain America for so long. But if you’re looking for a movie this weekend, and if you haven’t seen it already, this could be the one.

After Santa Claus is kidnapped, the North Pole’s Head of Security must team up with a notorious hacker in a globe-trotting, action-packed mission to save Christmas.

Red One, IMDb

Starring Dwayn Johnson as an E.L.F. (Black Adam, Baywatch), Chris Evens as a naughty boy (Avengers Assemble, Deadpool & Wolverine), Lucy Liu as Zoe (Charlie’s Angerls, Elementary), J.K. Simmons as Santa (Whiplash, Spider-Man), Kristofer Hivju as Krampus (Game of Thrones, The Witcher), and Kiernan Shipka as Gryla the witch (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Twisters).

Red One Review Conclusion

Yup, I’d watch it again: probably next year. It’s a good action movie with lots of drama, dark and light, and a little comedy. Would different actors have created a different movie? (yeah, I’ve heard what people are saying) Yeah, probably. And I would have still watched it. I’m all for a good Christmas action movie. This wasn’t a bad script that needed a big name boost. It has great characters that work really well together, brilliant special effects, and a lot of elements of this darker period of the year that you rarely see in Christmas movies. I loved the little pieces of information scattered through it too, facts that both uphold the belief that Santa lives beyond our sight and added another layer of how that might be possible in a modern age. And that he doesn’t exist alone, but is part of a wider supernatural realm that allows all the things people believe in to exist. Yup, it was a good movie.

Rating: 4 out of 5.
