I discovered Penny Dreadful pretty late and got to watch the whole 3 season box set in one go and believed, like many, that there would never be another. But soon we will get Penny Dreadful: City of Angels and I’m so excited.
Set in 1938 in Los Angeles, a time that was so similar to current times with political and social tension, eight episodes will bring us a series that explores a mix of supernatural and human characters loyal to Lorenza Izzo’s character Santa Muerta and the Devil. A murder shocks the city and as the detective investigates he and his family suffer at the hands of supernatural forces.

The cast is filling out and I would be here forever if I listed them all and who they were playing, so here are those I find interesting:
- Natalie Dormer (from Game of Thrones) as the demon Magda who isn’t feeling mankind’s desires
- Lorenza Izzo (from The Green Inferno) as Santa Muerta
- Lin Shaye (from Insidious) but who she will play we do not know yet
- Jessica Garza (from The Purge) as Josefina Vega
- Thomas Kretschman (from Dracula & The River) as Richard Goss
- Ethan Peck (from Star Trek: Discovery) as Herman Ackerman
- Dominic Sherwood (from Shadowhunters) as Kurt
- Adam Rodriguez (from CSI: Miami) as Raul Vega
- Rory Kinnear (from Penny Dreadful) as Dr. Peter Craft this time around
- Julian Hilliard (from The Haunting of Hill House) as Tom Craft
But When Will We Get To See It?
Not yet scheduled, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels will be shown in the UK on Sky Atlantic at some point in 2020 -I’ll update as soon as I know more.
