If you haven’t discovered the House of Night yet, the chances are you’re reading this post wondering what I’m talking about. And if I’m honest, I’d come across the series but hadn’t picked it up. Partly because it’s YA and partly because I’m just not reading about vampires at the moment. But it’s now on my wish list because it sounds brilliant.
What drew me to this piece of news was Shadow Hunters. A series that, despite taking a little while to fully find it’s feet, was a personal favorite. So when I saw that the producers of Shadow Hunters, Don Carmody and David Cormican, were working on something new, I wanted to know more. The pair will be adapting the series for TV.
House of Night Series
With 16 books currently available, this series has a lot of scope for an ongoing TV series if it proves popular. And is centered on a world where vampires and humans coexist, if a little uncomfortably. With the focus on a 16 year old human girl, Zoey Redbird, who has been chosen to join the House of Night school and train to become an adult vampire. She discovers that she has an amazing ability to conjure the elements of earth, air, fire, and water and that another student, one of the most elite girls in the school is misusing her gifts.
And vampires aren’t the only un-dead to exist in the books, as we follow Zoey we meet her best friend, her boyfriends, and encounter unimaginable dangers. Plus angels, goddesses, grandmothers, and a High Council.
When and where?
Unfortunately, there is no news on this yet. It’s so early in the process it’s not even on IMDb yet, so it’s a case of keep your eyes open and check back regularly. I’ll update this post when I know more and if you keep an eye on the monthly roundup (and sign up for emails) you’ll know as soon as I know when it’s due to start and on what channel.
