If you loved Wind River with Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, you’ll b e excited to know another film is in development with the director of The Falcon and Winter Soldier attached. And Patrick Massett and John Zinman will write The Next Chapter (probably the working title, I suspect once it’s written that might change).
Production could begin as early as next year, with some characters returning, there are some indicators of the story. Remember Chip, Natalie’s (the girl whose body was found frozen) younger brother? Well, he’s got his life back on track and joined the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, just like Jeremy Renner’s character was in the first film, and it looks like his story as he joins the FBI on a case close to home is the one we’ll follow.
Whilst there is room for Olsen to return with the FBI in the second film, it may be less possible for Renner given his recent accident and his ongoing recovery. Whilst he’s home and somewhat mobile, and making incredible strides in his recovery, it’s too soon to say whether he will be ready to take on the incredible amount of work that goes into making a movie. Of course, there are always ways.
As always, I’ll update this post as and when I see more news about Wind River: The Next Chapter. In the mean time, if you haven’t seen Wind River, why not give it a watch. I loved it.
