USS Callister
The Star Trek one.
At a company designing games you can literally plug yourself in and play, one employee wakes up inside a game she didn’t plug into. Where the crew are all sucking up to the Captain – whilst he’s in the game.
Arkangel
The Implant one.
After a frantic search for her young daughter, a mother invests in a piece of technology that will allow her to know where her daughter is at all times. See what she sees, filter graphic things, and be able to monitor her health. In a young child this might seem like the ultimate in care, but what about when that child gets a little older?
Crocodile
The photographic memory one.
Working for an insurance agency a woman is trying to piece together the events of an accident. Using a piece of technology to gather a recording of the memory of those who witnessed it. How well can you control what you think about? What if what you were doing when you witnessed the accident was something you would never want anyone else to find out?
Hang the DJ
The perfect partner one.
Imagine a dating app that paired you with the one. But first you have to go on a number of set dates, with a pre-determined relationship duration. So the app can learn. And provide you with the perfect life partner. Eventually.
Metalhead
The black and white one.
During an attempt to get supplies a woman is left alone trying to survive the attacks of a “Dog” on the Scottish Moors. Capable of tracking her the dog is always hot on the trail and she must use whatever means necessary to stay alive.

The collector one.
Forced to stop and charge her car a young woman enters the Black Museum. The curator tells her stories of the items behind the glass cases. Until they come to the final display -the one the tourists used to come to see.
Black Mirror Season 4 **There may be Spoilers Ahead**
I loved the idea that an implant could help or hinder a person – whilst also being more intrusive than anyone would really like. Or, like in Black Mirror Season 4 – Crocodile, gathering evidence could simply mean recording your memory of an incident. And what if robots did go to far and eliminated the human population. Simply because that’s what they had been programmed to do -sort of.
Who amongst us is responsible enough to say no to new technology. Clear headed enough to think about the consequences. At which point to we decide that we are allowing technology to far into our lives? When we shop without checkouts, simply scanning the items with our phones. Or when we can implant it to help someone see/hear/speak/walk. When our every move is logable, watchable, plotable, hackable.
Black Mirror Season 4 Review Conclusion
I’m probably gonna watch it again – and any future seasons too. Black Mirror Season 4 meanders and weaves through differing stories the whole holding a mirror up to our lives still holds true. The advancements in technology don’t seem so far fetched as to be unbelievable. And this show demonstrates to us how easily we could go wrong. Take the wrong path. How much control do we really need? Are we reaching a point were we will no longer be free to even think our own thoughts?
