Recently popping up on Amazon Prime UK, Backtrack is a ghost story with a difference. Not at all what I was expecting, this movie has a slow build and gives you more and more clues to the truth as it goes on. But cautiously, they’re not glaringly in your face clues -one thing must lead to another until the inevitable happens and the movie comes to its dramatic conclusion.
Perfect for a rainy autumn evening when the temperature has dropped, a wind has picked up, and you’re toasty warm under your favourite blanket (hopefully with your favourite person). With a couple of mild jump scares, ghosts, and none gory death scenes this movie is more about the story and making you think than scaring you out of your wits.
Backtrack
When psychologist Peter Bower’s discovers the patients he has been seeing are the ghosts of people who died twenty years ago his life is thrown into turmoil. As he delves further into his own past he discovers a terrifying secret that only he can resolve but is the reward worth the risk to his own sanity.
Starring Adrien Brody (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Peaky Blinders), Jenni Baird (The 4400, Alien Trespass), Bruce Spence (Winchester, Pirates of the Caribean: Salazar’s Revenge), Greg Poppleton (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Moulin Rouge!), Barbara Gouskos (Deadly Women, Mushrooms), and Sam Neill (Thor: Ragnarok, Hunt for the Wilderpeople) .
Backtrack Review Conclusion
I would watch it again – A little on the slow side but nonetheless Backtrack mysteriously pulls you onwards. You know they’re ghosts but where will it all lead? And what is it he needs to make amends for? You think you know where it’s going and then another little piece of information is slipped in and you’re off

A young woman with a promise to keep.
Another with a curse to lift.
And a werewolf looking for a new mate.
When Alice invited her friends, Sarah, Paul, and Dave to stay in her Grandmother’s Romanian farmstead they were expecting to take a break from studying and have a good time. Of course, that wasn’t the only reason Alice was there but her friends didn’t need to be involved in that. And she could happily show them where her family was from. And the town where she had spent her summers without them ever suspecting anything.
But then they meet the hunter, the werewolves catch their scent, and Sarah reveals a secret that could end her friendship with Alice and spell disaster for all of them.
