The Wild Bunch 2020 | Reboot Western

The Wild Bunch was a controversially violent movie that told the story of a gang of outlaws chasing their last score whilst pursued by a posse determined to catch them and bring them to justice -one way or another. Originally released in 1969, Warner Bros. has been trying to find the right script to reboot this classic. Currently attached to write and direct is none other than Mel Gibson.

For some of you this might not be news, as he has been working on getting the script right for some time now with fellow writer Bryan Bagby (Once A Pilgrim, L.I.N.X.). And saying that originally he thought remaking The Wild Bunch was a bad idea. But now that he is, at least we won’t be getting a modern-day CIA/Drug Cartel story based on the original script.

Due to begin filming this Autumn, or so I’ve heard, we’re not too far away from getting more information -like, who will actually be in it and where they’re filming. Although, the original location has been mentioned which I believe was a place in Mexico at The Hacienda of Ciénega del Carmen.

The Wild Bunch: Starring!

Nope, no one knows yet. Although there are rumours that  Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs, X-Men: Dark Pheonix), Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained, Robin Hood), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones, Avengers Infinity War). But, as per usual, I’ll update as soon as I know more.

And there are like a gazillion western novels that never got made into movies if you’re looking for inspiration Hollywood.

And I have a couple of ideas for western movies too, one is a kind of after the Donner Party incident horror western and the other’s a ‘man rides into town, rescues the girl from a minor scuffle then teaches her how to save herself before riding out knowing she’s capable of facing the danger alone’ kinda thing. You know, just if you’re looking…
