Temple – A strange disarming creepiness | KT Review

The Children Were Never Found

Is it possible to have a serene horror movie? I really enjoyed Temple. It had a sort of disarming creepiness.  There’s the weird but not in your face tension between the main three characters. The soggy damp forests. The innocence.

It’s not a fast-moving horror. But when things do happen it’s sudden or intense. Between the kids and the guardian, there’s plenty of weird stuff happening and the occasional surprise jump scare. But I got lost a little towards the end. Feeling like I’d missed something. It may need a second watch 🙂 Despite this feeling towards the end I still enjoyed it.

Temple

Three American Tourists travel to Japan and discover an old journal. Keen to find the temple drawn in the journal they embark on a trip to a small village where they have been told the temple is. And despite numerous warnings about the dangers they still want to go and see for themselves. Their adventure quickly turns into a nightmare.

Starring  Logan Huffman (Final Girl, V)Natalia Warner (Following Footsteps, Last Supper)Brandon Sklenar (New Girl, Hunky Dory),  Naoto Takenaka (Quartet for Two, Manhunt), Asahi Uchida (Absolute Boyfriend, The Deep Red).

Temple Review Conclusion

I might watch it again – With the occasional jump scare, and a strange monstrous guardian, the adventure to the temple soon takes a not so pleasant turn. Whilst not particularly scary this movie has a strange serene quality to it that almost lulls you into a false sense of security.
