The Hitman’s Bodyguard | KT Review

Boring is Good

I put The Hitman’s Bodyguard on fully expecting a shed load of violence. After all, it is an Action Thriller and it does star Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Renolds. And from the trailer (which is below for your convenience) I fully expected a cross between Pulp Fiction and Deadpool. I almost didn’t notice the ironic music.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard

When a volatile hitman agrees to testify against a brutal dictator at an International Criminal Court, he is assigned the worlds best bodyguard to keep him safe. And to make sure he gets to the trial on time – and alive.

Starring  Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool {obviously}, Life)Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction, The Hateful Eight)Gary Oldman (Dracula, The Dark Knight Rises), Elodie Young (Daredevil, Gods of Egypt), and Richard E. Grant (Logan, Game of Thrones) -yeah, I was surprised by that last one too.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard Review Conclusion

I might watch it again – I really expected The Hitman’s Bodyguard to be much better than it was. I didn’t quite connect with the story and kept having to remind myself what they were trying to achieve. Maybe we’ve been spoiled by John Wick. Perhaps we expect too much from action movies now. Could be they just need to have a better story Mother Fucker! Either way, the action was good, the comedy wasn’t bad, and if you can imagine Deadpool and Nick Fury (with Jules’ colourful language) in a car together with guns, you’ve pretty much got this movie covered. I mean, it’s not a bad movie but it’s not a great movie either.
