So, 6 weeks till the Great North Run half marathon, my first. Training didn’t get off to a great start because of injury but I think I’m getting a hold of it now and aiming for a sub 2hours race. I have to say so far I have gone through the pain of running (injury) spinning (sore butt), swimming at 6.30am every morning and to top it off a couple of sports massages on my legs and injured shin. But it’s all worth it, I am less stressed and a calmer me and really looking forward tot he 16th September for the big day. The better sides to running do exist of course and I am having great fun training. I ended up running down a main road in Cheltenham with mud upto my knees and trainers full of water, something you can only really get away with as a child. And you can’t beat the feeling of a fresh outdoor swim in the morning. on the whole, despite injury, it’s looking good for a sub 2hr run. Feel confident and raring to go. They say it’s not just about the training it’s about the mind. So Bring it on.
