The Open House -Who keeps turning the boiler off? | KT Review

Who is to blame?

The scenery in The Open House is beautiful and the location perfect, I mean who wouldn’t say yes to a huge, gorgeous house for free, until it sells? With a creepy basement and a boiler that doesn’t seem to stay lit, there are a lot of opportunities for jumpy, scary, intense moments.

With a mixture of grief holding them back from being sociable, and the overly friendly, new faces starved locals, you find yourself wondering who the bad guy is gonna be. But hey, maybe there isn’t a bad guy, maybe it’s just the tired minds of two people trying to deal with their loss overreacting to the smallest of things. Maybe.

The Open House

After the death of her husband, a mother and her teenage son go to stay in her sister’s remote log house. The locals are a little strange, the house is very large, and strange things keep happening.

Starring  Dylan Minnette (Don’t Breath, Let Me In)Piercey Dalton (The Orchard, Chocolate)Patricia Bethune (True Blood, Mad Men), and  Sharif Atkins (Guardians of the Galaxy, House).

The Open House Review Conclusion

Not likely to watch it again – I felt this film left a little too much unanswered. Half the time I didn’t know why they were doing what they were doing. There were some interesting moments, with creepy music and a definite threat to the characters very near future. But I just didn’t feel connected to the story.
