Omg, have you watched From yet? | KT Review

From sounded interesting, if you liked Lost you’ll like From -it said. Such an understatement. It’s layered and complex, confusing and engrossing. If you’re not saying wtf by the end of the first episode this might not be for you. And I can tell you honestly, if I picked up my phone it was to quickly check a message or the time. From had the power to drag me away from my phone, from social media, from conversations with friends. From won. I need more.

**There may be spoilers ahead**

Look, in the first episode you meet the thing in the forest, one of them anyway. And it has this nightmare kids fairy tale vibe -like, let me in little one, I’m your friend, I’m your granny, I won’t hurt you. And there’s an odd out of time way of dressing. Expected and unwanted at the same time, when you get to this place you’ll wanna stop by the diner because the gas station’s not what it seems and at least you’ll have a full belly whilst you try to figure it all out.

From

Unravel the mystery of a city in middle U.S.A. that imprisons everyone who enters. As the residents struggle to maintain a sense of normalcy and seek a way out, they must also survive the threats of the surrounding forest.

What I Thought of this Movie

When’s the next season, I need more!: Damn this was good. Lost didn’t even grip me like this one has, I keep trying to think of other shows to compare it to so you’ll get an idea of whether you might like it or not but I can’t. The monsters make me think of Neil Gaiman stories, and perhaps the closest movie story-wise might be The Village. There’s layers of story, the different characters and how they came to be there, the relationships that are evolving, those that have been there a long time and settled to their new way of life clashing with the new comers who want to find a way home again. It’s currently streaming on NowTV -the whole season, as short as it is- and it’s most definitely worth a watch. Oh, and there’s some gory bits and some skin crawly bits.
