November | #AHS | American Werewolf Remake | Christmas

Endings, Beginnings, and Promises

November is little more than a break between Halloween and Christmas, the length of which is determined by how soon you see the Coca Cola ‘Holidays are coming’ advert. (I’m not ready, I’m still pondering the news of An American Werewolf remake!) I saw it twice in an hour on Sunday the 20th of November. I’ve had reports of others seeing it much earlier. It’s Christmas, Halloween is done. Time to get spending.

Movies 24 has been Christmas 24 for about a month already. But the list of movies I will be watching this year on the run up to Christmas, whilst I’m wrapping Christmas presents and penning sweet notes in Christmas cards, will be The Grinch, Krampus, A Nightmare Before Christmas, Black Christmas, and The Santa Claus. I will also be playing Carol of the Bells on repeat for the next month. And eating sprouts at every available opportunity.

In case you hadn’t noticed the banner to the right, or hints on twitter, I released The Soul Game this month, which you can read for free on Kindle Unlimited. But I won’t bang on about it. I’m just mentioning it in case you hadn’t noticed.

What November Brought us

News of Nosferatu and An American Werewolf Remake have been grabbing my attention lately. And as well as the movies: Dr Strange, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and Shut In, we finally get a month filled with good stuff to watch on TV. Sometimes I feel like I wait all summer for this time of year. The DC superhero shows began again – and there’s almost one for every day of the week. But superheroes weren’t the only thing to keep us company through the dark nights:

  • The Exorcist
  • American Horror Story
  • Crazyheads
  • The Strain
  • Westworld
  • Lucifer
  • Scream Queens
  • Ash vs Evil Dead
  • Humans

The Exorcist

It seems as if this show is already in trouble as I’ve seen a number of posts about how fans can help get a second season. I love it and it would be sad to see it disappear after only one season, it’s been one of my favorites this month – even more so than American Horror Story. And for us here in the UK the first season isn’t yet over. I really hope this goes on for another season – best do my part.

Crazyhead

Well this was different. A great series that’s come to an end too soon. Quite a few twists and turns to keep you guessing, whilst dealing with ordinary life problems like should you sleep with the guy, or where else should the canoe be stored?

American Horror Story: Roanoke

What the hell? I think the second half got confusing, it was a little difficult keeping track of who was dead, when it had happened, and who was eating who. I may have to watch it again (I probably will) and try and stay focused. It was good – but I didn’t totally get it. Still, a series set on the sea could be interesting. I hear that’s what they have in store for us next year.

The Strain

Another interesting and twisted series, I wasn’t sure where it was going to go after they’d killed the Master but it just kept getting better. It’s been renewed for a fourth and final season and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Humans

When the first season arrived I saw an advert on TV for a synth to help around the home. That they were now available. And I was in equal measures stunned and intrigued.

We’re now into the second season (do you have this in America yet?) and the question of whether or not they can feel and process situations like a human has begun to emerge – should a synth be tried like a human for their crimes if they can be shown to feel? Could the machines take over?

News: American Werewolf Remake, & Nosferatu

american werewolf remakeI covered this when I first heard rumors of An American Werewolf remake but Max Landis denied it then. Now it’s happening again, and they say he’s on board along with The Walking Dead’s Robert Kirkman. I don’t know whether to believe or not.

Whilst some think a remake of Nosferatu is pointless I would like to see it. Particularly directed by Robert Eggers who brought us The VVitch. With the intention of bringing 1830s Germany to life, filming Nosferatu in it’s true time period will be an interesting challenge. I have to say I’m a fan of remakes (done well), bringing old stories to new generations in a way that will get their attention and keep the legends alive.

Coming for December

Horror doesn’t hibernate just because someone jingled their bells in it’s direction. Oh no, horror rips those bells off and make a pretty, gruesome decoration.

Movies

DVD & Blu-ray

TV

  • Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency – December 11th on Netflix
  • Van Helsing – 17th December on Netflix

Plenty to keep us from thinking about An American Werewolf remake and to keep us going through the jolliest month of the year. Digging around in the loft for the decorations, the giant stockings for Santa to put presents in (that seemed like such a great idea at the time), fighting the tree and the cat, paper cuts whilst wrapping, icky tastes from envelope flap sticking, and the ability to forget every goddamned thing you were meant to do/buy/make. I know I’ve seen the advert -far earlier than I usually do- but I’ve just not got the Christmas spirit yet. It’s still to early right?

If you know of any other shows or movies coming in December drop me a tweet @KateTrinity or @AuthorKTMcQueen

Don’t forget:  The Soul Game is free on Kindle Unlimited.
