Nightmare? Krueger is in the Dream Dictionary

Dreams with a Dark Passenger

Shuffling a plastic wrapped dead body out of sight with my foot – whilst trying to hold a normal conversation with my mother- was my most recent weird dream. It continued when the nice couple from out the back hopped over the fence to offer to help me garden – I was digging a person sized pit in my lemon tree grove (I don’t have one of those, or a dead body to bury). The most confusing part was waking up and wondering, quite suddenly, whether or not I still had a body to hide. But I don’t consider this dream a nightmare – if you don’t wake up screaming and in a sweat it doesn’t count.

So, like most bored looking for meaning adults, I Googled dream meanings. And I have to say what I found was surprising.

*I should also add that I’ve been watching an awful lot of Dexter recently.

Whilst hunting for dead bodies I came across Dracula

(ok, this sentence is a little weird) and wondered how many other monsters were lurking. Dream moods is my go to dream meaning dictionary – sometimes I just need to make sense of the weirdness in my head, OK? I’ve tried to interpret a nightmare or two but I’d never noticed these horror icons before.

So from the Dream Moods A-Z Dream Dictionary I give you….

Frankenstein

(I was looking for fruit – the lemon trees?)

You are tormented or rejected by society. You feel alone and no one understands you. Or perhaps there’s a fear you don’t know how to deal with. –Dream Moods Frank

Freddy Krueger

(Almost makes you feel sorry for Freddy)

Freddy represents your fears and the rejected aspects of yourself. You are refusing to acknowledge your negative parts. Or it could indicate you are desperate to get a grasp of a problem or situation. You may be feeling neglected. –Dream Moods Freddy

Dracula

If you are Dracula you’re draining the energy of others but if you see Dracula you may be being misguided in your waking life. If he is your father then it may indicate you feel disconnected with your own father. –Dream Moods Dracula

Jekyll and Hyde

You are battling between good and evil. Conflicted about right and wrong. This dream reflects your two personality extremes. – Dream Moods Jekyll

No Jason Voorhees, sorry.

Batman

(All right, not technically horror but I had to check see if he was in)

Utilize your wits and resources to help yourself and others. Maximise your full potential. Unleash the power from within and stop looking for short cuts. Or maybe there’s some wrongdoing you need to put right. – Dream Moods Batman

There are clearly some horror characters yet to grace the pages of the dream dictionary but I’m sure with time they’ll show up. For us horror fans these dreams might simply mean you’ve been watching to many movies of late. The real nightmare begins when your brain starts taking your real life and twisting it up into a fear inducing labyrinth of terrors.

nightmare, Zombie Dream Meaning

A Nightmare can be interpreted too

I once woke dream screaming because white zombie rats were eating my legs. And yes I looked for the meaning.

Zombie

…To dream that you are attacked by zombies indicate that you are feeling overwhelmed by forces beyond your control. You are under tremendous stress in your waking life. Alternatively, the dream represents your fears of being helpless and overpowered. To see someone as a zombie implies that your feelings for them is dead. You have not emotional attachment towards them. –Dream Moods Zombies

Rats

…If you see a white rat in your dream, then it means that you will receive help from an unexpected source. To dream that a rat is biting your feet is analogous to the rat race that you are experiencing in your waking life… –Dream Moods Rats

That was definitely one I woke dream screaming from, legs tangled in the duvet, terrified they were coming from under the bed to finish me off (it was the dog racing around trying to find what was attacking me).

P.S. Why not check out Dream Moods and interpret your last nightmare – I would love to know what it was and what it meant. Was it worse than mine? Let me know in the comments.
