The Horror of Giving Birth in the Movies | 5 Horror Movie Births

You can’t even guarantee what it’s going to be!

Horror movie births are filled with horrible possibilities. Far beyond the regular worries of carrying and then birthing a live human. I mean, is it even going to be human, and if it is, what kind of human will it be? And you have to consider how the pregnancy happened in the first place – alien abduction anyone, demons having their wicked way?  So, in honour of two impending babies -my BFF’s first & my Aunt & Uncle’s second- I give you my five favourite horror movie births.

The Fly

What happens when you sleep with a human fly? Well, the dream sequence in The Fly reveals all – you give birth to a giant maggot.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 5 – The Dream Child

Raped by a hundred maniacs the outcome of this birth is a little up in the air. Whilst, obviously, it can’t be the child of all of them. The fact that it’s the child of even one of them…well, you know who that child turns out to be.

Seed of Chucky

There’s got to be a dash of comedy right? This is not the face of the midwife you want

American Horror Story

Whilst there hasn’t been only one birth in American Horror Story there is one that sticks in my mind. And it’s this one from the first season. A whole house of ghosts coming to deliver twins. It’s the stuff of nightmares – or at least it would be if I was the sort to have nightmares about giving birth.

Alien Resurrection

And one for those who go the C-Section route – through choice, necessity, or regeneration.

Horror Movie Births take a naturally scary thing & make it worse

With so many ‘what if’s’ in regular pregnancy taking the ‘what if’ to the horror level opens so many disturbing doors into possibility. And there are way more horror movie births out there than I’ve mentioned here. So, with that in mind, what horror movie births do you remember and why do they stick in your head? Let me know in the comments or on twitter 🙂
