The Hollow Point -My ‘give this more love’ Movie | KT Review

A dark gritty modern western with balls

The Hollow Point stars Ian McShane (American Gods, John Wick), Patrick Wilson (Insidious, The Conjuring), Lynn Collins (True Blood, X-Men Origins; Wolverine), John Leguizamo (John Wick, American Ultra), and Jim Belushi (The Ghost, K-9).

When a traffic stop goes bad the Sheriff is forced to retire and his replacement soon arrives. But it isn’t long before the retired sheriff is brought back in to help deal with the towns gun running problem. And the hit-man who only has a couple more to cross off his list. Things don’t go entirely to plan but that doesn’t stop these two lawmen from doggedly trying to make their town safe again.

Love that the retired Sheriff (Ian McShane) comments about The Boogyman 🙂 This was a good movie, violent, didn’t over do the blood and gore but didn’t shy away from it either. It had it’s complexities and a pleasing gritty darkness that just kept me wanting more.

Highly recommend this movie. Great performances and a great story. Definitely one of my favourites.

The Hollow Point Review Conclusion

I did watch it again – The Hollow Point is brilliant. This has got to be my ‘movie that doesn’t get enough attention’ – it’s a modern western but a western all the same. Gritty, dirty, bloody, and raw. Every time you think they’re on to something or about to get their man, someone or something gets in the way and they have to come up with a new plan. It’s complex and forever moving forward. The violence is unapologetic but always where it needs to be and not over done. The relationships are complicated without taking the viewer deep into them, a sense of ‘well, there’s more going on there than meets the eye’ and it keeps you wondering about the characters. Currently on Netflix -give it a watch. Or buy the DVD on Amazon, I am.
