Whilst I’ve come across Happy Hunting before I’ve never chosen it to watch. But for whatever reason today it’s the stand out choice. A violent and gritty horror film currently available on Netflix UK with strong bloody violence – makes you wonder what mood I’m in, doesn’t it?
I suppose you could consider it a horror western with all the guns and hats and good guys against bad guys. Set in the desert along the Mexican border, there’s not much to see or do. And those that could get out clearly did. Practically a ghost town, the few remaining residents have their own idea of fun. And each year they hold a Hunting Festival to celebrate the original reason for the town coming into existence. Except now they hunt people.
When he becomes the target of a deranged sporting event in a remote desert town
Starring Martin Dingle Wall (Gun Shy, All that Jam), Ken Lally (Heroes, A Certain Justice), Kenny Wormald (Footloose, Fear the Walking Dead), Connor Williams (Unicorn Store, The UnMiracle), Gary Strum (Sasquatch Hunters, The Chosen Few), and C.J. Baker (Devil Girl, Lights).
Happy Hunting Review Conclusion
I might watch it again – Happy Hunting definitely starts out as it means to go on. With flavours of other movies, dramatic music, and a whole heap of cold turkey to deal with, this movie is strange, violent, and messy. It didn’t quite keep me engrossed, drifting off on what felt like tangents. And one particular gunfight scene that didn’t feel entirely believable. And there’s definitely some inventive kills. But saying all that, it’s not a bad little movie for an afternoons entertainment so curl up with a big bag of crisps and a couple of tequila beers.

Of course, that wasn’t the only reason Alice was there but her friends didn’t need to be involved in that. And she could happily show them where her family was from. And the town where she had spent her summers without them ever suspecting anything.
But then they meet the hunter, the werewolves catch their scent, and Sarah reveals a secret that could end her friendship with Alice and spell disaster for all of them.
