Fresh – A Meaty Little Number | KT Review

At first I thought Fresh was a strange knock off version of You, the guy even looks similar (It’s Bucky from Winter Soldier, I didn’t even notice till I was writing this review). But that’s just the opening notes. And it doesn’t let on what’s to come either, so if you haven’t seen this one (currently available on Disney+) then it might be worth a shot. I really didn’t expect this kind of movie on Disney.

Fresh

Modern dating is hard enough to navigate without the peculiarities of the people you might encounter. But sometimes you have to decide which weird stuff you’re willing to overlook to move forward with a relationship that otherwise seems ideal. Until it’s nothing you anticipated and you’re just battling to survive.

Starring Daisy Edgar-Jones (War of the Worlds, Pond Life), Sabastian Stan (Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: End Game), Andrea Bang (Luce, Kim’s Convenience), Jojo T. Gibbs (Twenties, Good Trouble), Dayo Okeniyi (Queen Pins, Emperor), and Charlotte Le Bon (The Hundred Foot Journey, The Walk).

What I Thought of It

I might watch it again: he was no Hannibal in the cooking department and his interior décor tastes were a little bit early 90’s bachelor pad -but hey it’s coming back, so, you know, whatever. But his choice of dress has got to be considered. This was a weird film, it gave little hint as to what was coming (so long as you don’t watch the trailer first) and asked you to just go with it. And just when you thought you had a handle on the weirdness it twisted it all up and added a just a dash more. Well worth a watch.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Bubble and Squeak with minted lamb steaks was the accompaniment to this delectable little film, accompanied by a strong black coffee or two.
