December Roundup – Is it the end already?

It’s been a heck of a year! The December roundup takes a look at everything that’s happened, not just this month but, all year. We’ve had clowns, secrets, teasers, amazing TV series, movies, and a whole bunch of misleading news. I’m not sure next year is going to be able to compare, but we’ll look at what it has in store too.

TV shows that have blown us out of the water

Everything from the American Horror Story ‘guess what the hell the seasons going to be about‘ craziness to the Netflix smash Stranger Things. We’ve had a stupid amount of TV to get excited about. Here are just a few:

  • American Horror Story: Roanoke
  • The Exorcist
  • Ash vs Evil Dead
  • Stranger Things
  • Walking Dead
  • Lucifer
  • Scream Queens season 2
  • Crazyhead
  • Westworld

Movies that filled our wildest expectations & left us wondering what we were watching

Netflix originals

It sort of felt like Netflix suddenly had a rush on original shows for December, so there are probably more than I’ve listed here. The ones mentioned, I’ve either watched all of are or am partway through.

  • Stranger Things
  • Dirk Gently
  • Shooter
  • Sense8 Christmas special
  • The OA
  • Van Helsing

Books – best selling horror novels of 2016

  • Stephen King IT – not really a surprise with the movie coming out next year.
  • Andrew Michael Hurley The Loney
  • S.K. Tremayne The Fire Child

We’ve also had the misfortune of seeing the deaths of a number of horror icons. This year has taken a great number of people who were in the public eye – may their legends live on.

The December Roundup leads to the question: What can we expect of 2017?

Well, it’s made a few promises already. 2017 will bring us a whole host of new TV shows & movies. Just a few that we know about (and are of interest) are listed below:

  • Taboo – staring Tom Hardy comes to our screens on January 7th, and looks to be a promisingly dark drama.
  • Legion – the most powerful of mutants is the center of this TV Drama and comes to us on February 8th
  • Stranger Things season 2
  • American Horror Story Season 7
  • The Mummy – June 9th
  • Insidious Chapter 4 – October 20th
  • The Dark Tower (feel like I’ve been waiting ages for this!) – February 17th
  • Underworld: Blood Wars – January 6th
  • Amityville: The Awakening – January 6th
  • Rings – February 3rd
  • Alien: Covenant – August 4th
  • Flatliners – August 18th
  • IT – September 8th

So, however you spent your Christmas and 2016, know there’s more great things to come in 2017 & I hope you’ll spend some of it with Kate Trinity 🙂

  1. Thought provoking article. I’m not much into Netflicks/ Amazon Prime – mainly because of the current commute. Maybe when things calm down later in the year… Do keep meaning to take a look at Man in the High Castle, and hopefully Dirk Gently will still be available when time is less pressing. See I’m the Eternal Optimist 🙂
