The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance | KT Review

Like children, we awaited the arrival of The Dark Crystal on Netflix like we were waiting for Halloween. Eagerly and in great anticipation of a fabulous treat. And we were not disappointed.

So my favourite character has always been The Chamberlin -in the original as well as in this new series- because he’s such a devious little character and I love making that noise he does. Which, of course, had me a tad worried for this being in the series but as it turns out it’s just as brilliant as before.

The Dark Crystal On Netflix

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance returns us to the world of Thra, where Gelflings discover what the Skegsis are doing to gain their power and they set out to start a rebellion to save the Gelfling.

Starring Beccy Henderson (Derry Girls, Secret Life of Boys 2), Neil Sterenberg (The Furchester Hotel, Star Wars: Episode VII -The Force Awakens), Nathalie Emmanuel (Fast & Furious 7, Game of Thrones), Anna Taylor-Joy (The Witch, Glass), Victor Yerrid (The Hangover, Robot Chicken), Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Watership Down), Alice Dinnean (The Muppets, The Happytime Murders), Warrick Brownlow-Pike (Sesame Street, Muppets Most Wanted), Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz, The Boys), and so many more surprises. Some voices you’ll recognise, other’s you may not (I did not realise Simon Pegg played the Chamberlin!) -Eddie Izzard, Sigourney Weaver, Lena Headey, Mark Hamill, the list goes on. Check out who they play and other voices you might recognise here.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Review Conclusion

I’ll watch it again and again, just like I have the movie from 1982 -The Dark Crystal was always one of my favourites as a kid, so I was super happy and excited and somewhat mind blown when they announced they were making a new series. And it’s so brilliant. Exceeds expectations. The familiarity, the newness. So much good stuff in tight little bundled moments. And it’s not just a rehashing of an old favourite, it’s a new part of the story with what feels like a massive cast. It’s not nostalgic, it’s new. And I hope today’s kids will love it as much as I did when I first saw it and as much as I love the Age of Resistance. I don’t have enough stars for the way I feel about this series, and I think it should definitely be up for an award or two in the near future.
