Tell me, Clarice, About Your New series | KT News

With news filtering in about a new series picked up by CBS, Clarice looks like the closest thing we’re getting to more Hannibal. Set after Silence of the Lambs has ended this suggests that Hannibal could feature in an out of the way overseeing figure who keeps a close eye on Clarice’s life. But they’re just my thoughts, keep reading to find out what we know so far.

Clarice series news

Based on the Thomas Harris Character

A crime drama series based on Thomas Harris‘ character Clarice Starling has a pilot episode written which will be filmed before the final go-ahead for the full series is given. Written and executive produced by Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet, who brought us The Mummy, Star Trek: Discovery episodes and more. A writers room is already set up and raring to go as soon as the full series is given the go-ahead.

It is set a year after the events of Silence of the Lambs, in 1993 and will focus on Clarice and is unlikely to include the character of Lecter. This isn’t the first attempt to create a Clarice Starling based series but other series, set during Clarice’s early years and before she entered the FBI, have not got the go-ahead. There are no details as yet of who might step into the well-known role, it will undoubtedly be clamoured after.

Well, Clarice – have the lambs stopped screaming?

Hannibal Lecter

Can Clarice Match Up?

For me, it sort of feels like they’re taking a really well-known story and character and using that to prop up a series about a female FBI agent in the 90’s dealing with a male-dominated culture. Their lineup of criminals are going to have to be something special and I hope to the gods of writing that it has the depth and richness of Hannibal and the background knowledge of Mindhunter. Either way, I’ll be watching.
