Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant | KT Review

When Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant showed up on Netflix I was intrigued. Couldn’t remember seeing trailers for it previously and it’s been out ages, so I had to give it a watch. A children’s horror perhaps but a fun watch all the same. It’s a fun one to watch with the slightly older kids but if you have a fear of spiders you might want to have that cushion ready (for hiding behind not hitting them with).

Now On Netflix

When teenager, Darren, meets a mysterious man at a freakshow his world is turned upside down. First, he learns that the man is a vampire, then to save his friend he must leave his mortal life behind and go on the road with Cirque du Freak as a half-vampire. It isn’t long before even that existence comes under threat and he must drink or die.

Starring Chris Massoglia (The Hole, Wanted), John C. Reilly (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Sisters Brothers), Salma Hayek (The Hitman’s Bodyguard, The Hummingbird Project), Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games, Future Man), Jessica Carlson (Law & Order, The Big C), Michael Cerveris (The Mexican, Mindhunter Season 2), Ray Stevenson (Thor: The Dark World, Black Sails), and Willem Dafoe (The Lighthouse, Murder on the Orient Express).

Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant Review Conclusion

I would watch again:- Unsure of what I was getting myself in for, I recognised a few of the names in this movie and figured I’d give it a watch. With a dash of creepiness, bugs and snakes, freaks and normals, this story takes you on a peculiar journey between two clans of vampires -those who kill their meals and those who don’t. It was fun and kinda dark and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

4 Stars

Snacked on grapes and pork crackling because it was Sunday and I could.
