Chilling Adventures of Sabrina | KT Review

Darkly delicious, this telling of the tales of Sabrina is perfect for Halloween. With gorgeously rich buildings, creepy deep dark woods, and layers of history this series doesn’t so much invite you in as slide it’s whispy tendrils of promise under your skin and pulls you in.  Still, it’s far from perfect.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

As Greendale gets ready for Halloween, Sabrina’s 16th birthday approaches and she faces a life-changing decision. A decision that could take her away from her friends and her school, changing her life as she knows it.

Starring Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men, Flowers in the Attic), Ross Lynch (My Friend Dahmer, Austin & Ally), Lucy Davis (Wonder Woman, Shaun of the Dead), Chance Perdomo (Midsomer Murders, Shakespear & Hathaway: Private Investigators), Michelle Gomez (Dr Who, Gotham), Jaz Sinclair (Slender Man, The Vampire Diaries), and Tati Gabrielle (The 100, Tarantula).

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Review Conclusion

I will be watching Part 2 – with complex characters, this series gives more than just Sabrina’s story whilst never detracting from it.

And yet, there are portions that just left me wondering how quickly it was written. Like the mine incident. Harvey’s dad, the mine boss turns up and tells everyone thanks but it’s time to leave. And tells Harvey they don’t have the right equipment and they’ll come back tomorrow. All without even assessing the situation first? And the emergency services (who have very cool uniforms by the way) that just accept this and walk away, despite the number of men still stuck in the mine? Or how often the show talks about consequences and yet there never seem to be any.

And yet…I will be eagerly awaiting part 2. It’s dark, entertaining, and gave me goosebumps when they called up the wind. With elements of Sabrina the Teenage Witch that’ll have those nostalgia nodes tingling, and exploring the stories from the comics, this is a witchy series not to be missed.
