Horror Themed (not just for Halloween) Garden Ornaments

After a Texas Chainsaw Style Gardening Afternoon

I wondered what it would be like to have a horror themed garden. And set out to investigate the ornamental options. Because Horror is for life not just for Halloween! And apparently gardening is one of those things no one told you you’d have to do when you became a grown up. Like the house work, grocery shopping, and knowing how to get places from the vaguest of muttered directions from your kid.

And did you know the smell of grass being cut is the grass screaming out a warning to all other blades of grass. A warning that something horrible is going to happen but that there’s sod all they can do about it because they’re a blade of grass. And we go ‘Mmmmm, I love the smell of a freshly mown lawn’.

*cough* anyway, back to the lovely garden ornaments for decorating your garden with this summer. (Click on any of the images to be taken to the site where you can buy it 🙂 )

#1 A Zombie in my Flowerbed

I think this tucked back a little in slightly overgrown plants would be cool. People walking past it would just suddenly see it and you’d have those moments where they’d do a little frightened jump, yelp, and chest clutch.

#2 Huge Heron Scarer

I think this would look great on the edge of my Dad’s pond. Keeping his fish safe. Nestled in amongst the plants. Not sure it would deter the cats but I’m sure the birds would stay away.

#3 Tiny Zombies

I love the idea of having a horde of these emerging from under a tree. Maybe with solar powered back lighting.

#4 Or all the gnomes being eaten

Aw bless their tiny little cotton socks, those gnomes look terrified.

Wang Saen Suk Hell Garden

The Thailand Hell Garden is a museum that depicts life in hell. Read more about it and see all of the gruesome things awaiting you on your decent into hell. This might be a little much for a regular suburban garden though. Think I’ll stick with Zombie Gnomes.
