Anne Rice | Wicked Women Of Horror Wednesday

Anne Rice recently celebrated her 75th Birthday – Happy Birthday Anne!

The Anne Rice page is swiftly becoming one of my favourite Facebook pages. With such a variety of content – from videos (great birthday live video), to wisdom from Anne, to the cutest little cartoon of Anne and Pythagoras the Cat, posts from Becket (Anne’s assistant), to very tempting food videos. This page has everything.

Anne Rice will soon release her new book: Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis: The Vampire Chronicles

Due for release on November 29th it’s perfect timing for Santa to stock up for Christmas. This book is the follow on from Prince Lestat and re-titled to bring Atlantis to the fore.

“In my dreams, I saw a city fall into the sea. I heard the cries of thousands. I saw flames that outshone the lamps of heaven. And all the world was shaken . . .”
–Anne Rice, Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis

Anne Rice has written novels on Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, Ghosts, Angels, and now Atlantis. All with her unique voice. My favourites have always been the Mayfair Witches and I often go back to those books.

Originally discovering Anne’s books just before the Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise movie of Interview with the Vampire was released, in 1994, I was surprised to find out the original novel had been written before I was born. Which gave me plenty to catch up on. I admit, that sometimes, when the situation calls for it, I quote the movie.

“Louis, Louis, still whining, Louis. Have you heard enough? I’ve had to listen to this for centuries!” -Lestat

Just don’t ask me in what messed up situations I’ve used this quote 😀

Her books have a mix of luxury and sensuousness. You can feel the scene and get to know and love the characters. Whilst at the same time knowing she’s writing from her own experiences to allow each character to grow and evolve.

I, for one, can’t wait for it’s release, but I’m going to have to read Prince Lestat first – do you think I have time?
