American Gods – Episode 1 | KT Review

I wanna pluck coins outta the air!

Based on the book by Neil Gaiman, American Gods first episode appeared on Amazon Prime yesterday (May 1st) and I don’t think I can wait a whole week for the next episode. This episode *Spoilers* was about Shadow Moon getting out of Prison early because of his wife’s tragic death and how he met his first Gods. He wanted to move back home when he got out, live a nice quiet life with his wife, and try to stay out of trouble. Instead he spends the episode trying to get home for her funeral. With a whole bunch of Gods doing what Gods do best. Staring Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane, Yetide Badaki, and Pablo Shreiber this series got off to an excellent start.

I must begin by saying I have never read the book but I am currently reading Norse Mythology (you can get it by clicking on the link). So, other than the trailers, I had no expectations of the story.

Loved the forest littered with skulls, the arm with the sword flying over the black boarder of the screen, and the fight in the bar. There are elements of Hannibal like rich darkness, and the cold hard realities of shows like Outcast. A feast for the senses amongst the Gods whims and wishes.
