24 Hours to Live -Ethan Hawk & Rutger Hauer | KT Review

Ethan Hawke stars in this violent action movie, and who can say no to an Ethan Hawke movie? So it’s like this; if Frankenstein and The Punisher had a baby that they left to be raised by Crank who was on-off dating John Wick you’d get 24 Hours to Live. From the producers of John Wick and with a few new faces and spattering of very familiar faces how could I say no?

Ethan has done a lot of movies recently that I’ve enjoyed, The Magnificent Seven, In A Valley Of Violence, Regression, The Purge, and Sinister to name but a few. And until it popped up on Netflix UK I hadn’t heard of this one. So in the usual review style, I grabbed a coffee and settled down to watch.

24 Hours to Live

A hitman is given a second chance after an experimental procedure to bring him back to life. But he only gets 24 hours in which to avenge the death of his wife and son. And redeem himself as he helps the woman who killed him and her son reunite.

Starring Ethan Hawke (The Magnificent Seven, Sinister), Qing Xu (Looper, Mr. Six), Paul Anderson (The Revenant, Brimstone), Rutger Hauer (Channel Zero, The Sisters Brothers), Tyrone Keogh (Dominion, Blood Diamond), Nathalie Boltt (Riverdale, Doomsday), and Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones, The Guard).

24 Hours to Live Review Conclusion

I’d probably watch it again – With flavours of Bourne in the music and a build up to the violent shoot-outs, the movie gives you layers of story with plenty of motive. But feels a little vague in places. The action is tight with believable scenarios and doesn’t ask you to believe the impossible. You will, however, have to hang around a little bit for the real action to kick in.  An enjoyable movie with an unexpected ending.
